An urgent meeting was set for Thursday at the Kamrup (Metro) District Administration office In response to the accident that claimed the life of a student in the Ganeshguri area of Guwahati.
The conference was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, and participants included contractors for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), transportation department officials, and traffic police officers.
The administration gave directives and started taking action against the negligent agency.
In the meantime, representatives from the transport department arrived and visited the accident scene in Ganeshguri.
The officials said, “The cause of the accident is due to the potholes dug by JICA, forming a small sand dune on the road.”
Once the investigation is over, further information will be made available to the media, they said.
The District Administration arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after it occurred to block off the pathway’s dug-out pit, which many people believe was a major factor in the mishap.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had dug a hole to install a water pipeline, and district administration workers could be seen securing the area.
Because there was no barricade surrounding the hole at the time of the accident, the already crowded road became much more crowded. In addition to the bus’s fast speed, angry neighbours pointed to the area’s dug-up sidewalk as a cause of the accident.
Class 11 kid was tragically slain earlier today in a hit-and-run incident that happened in Guwahati’s Ganeshguri neighbourhood.
The event happened as the girl and her older sister were travelling to school. The scooter they were riding in was reportedly struck by a speeding school bus, which then fled the scene.
The young child was instantly slain, while her sibling suffered significant injuries and was taken to a hospital for care.
One Priya Kumari, a class 11 student of Little Flower School in the city’s Hatigaon neighbourhood, has been identified as the deceased student.
After the event, Basistha police were able to confiscate the school bus and make the handyman and the driver into custody. The Royal Global School in Lokhra is the owner of the school bus with the registration number “AS-01-PC-7411.”
One Bipul Boro has been named as the bus’s driver.
