A class 11 student was killed on Thursday morning in a tragic hit-and-run accident in Guwahati’s Ganeshguri neighbourhood.
The event happened as the girl and her older sister were travelling to school. The scooter they were riding in was reportedly struck by a speeding school bus, which then fled the scene.
The young child was instantly slain, while her sibling suffered significant injuries and was taken to a hospital for care.
One Priya Kumari, a class 11 student of Little Flower School in the city’s Hatigaon neighbourhood, has been identified as the deceased student.

The accident happened in Ganeshguri in front of the Rajdhani Masjid. Along with the bus’s fast speed, angry locals pointed to the area’s existence of dug-up pathways as a cause of the accident.
‘AS-01-PC-7411’ bus belonging to Royal Global School was allegedly implicated in the hit-and-run incident.
Soon after, local police arrived at the location and are evaluating the situation.
