Massive Heroin Shipment Worth Rs 5 Cr Seized, 2 Held in Mizoram

Guwahati: A massive shipment of drugs estimated to be worth Rs 5 crore was found during an operation in Mizoram, reports emerged on Friday.

Initial reports state that the massive heroin shipment was captured during an operation that Assam Rifles soldiers and drug enforcement officers collaborated on.

The anti-narcotics operation was carried out at Jemabawk area of Mizoram during which the heroin consignment was seized. The seizure weighed 1.026 kilogrammes after being weighed.

The heroin was put in 88 containers and was being smuggled when it was discovered, according to the information gathered.

The value of the intercepted heroin shipment was estimated by authorities to be over Rs 5 crores on the world narcotics markets.

Meanwhile, two people were detained in connection with the case on suspicion of smuggling the illegal drugs.

Those arrested were identified as Mingthan Changa and Lalsinga Sailo, informed officials.

It should be mentioned that Assam continues to crack down on the drug problem, with significant busts being announced every day.
