Primary School Employee Hangs Self in Assam After Months of No Pay
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, an employee of an elementary school in Tezpur of Assam allegedly committed suicide inside the school premises on Friday morning.
The incident was reported from Dandinath Kalita Primary School located at Kamachuburi area in Tezpur.
As per the information obtained, the employee apparently took the extreme action as he did not receive his salary for a long time.
The deceased has been identified as Naren Nath, a Grade-IV employee in the school.
Nath was found hanging in his room inside the school premises on Wednesday morning.
Furthermore, a suicide note that he left at the scene stated that he was expecting to be paid a total of Rs 22,000 as wages, but the amount was never credited.
He has now requested in the letter that the school officials give his children’s welfare priority over paying him what is owed.
Later, local police reached the scene and recovered the body for post-mortem.
The school administration had not yet commented at the time this report was filed.
