Assam: Congress Candidate Unveils Five-Point Plan for Karimganj’s Development
In a bid to tackle longstanding developmental issues in the Karimganj constituency, Congress candidate Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury has unveiled a detailed plan comprising five key guarantees. These guarantees, if realized, promise to propel the region towards progress and prosperity by addressing critical sectors ranging from infrastructure to social welfare.
1. Infrastructure Development: Choudhury pledges to prioritize the construction of major highways linking the Barak and Brahmaputra river basins. Notable projects include the proposed Flyover Bridge at Badarpur Ghat and the introduction of an Express Train service from Bairabi to Guwahati, aimed at enhancing transportation and connectivity for economic growth.
2. Education Excellence: The candidate aims to establish science and technology universities strategically between Karimganj and Katigora. By focusing on academic excellence and fostering international collaboration, particularly with Bangladesh, Choudhury seeks to position the region as an education and research hub, contributing to international market growth at Sutarkandi.
3. Empowering Marginalized Communities: Choudhury proposes streamlining land allocation processes and providing legal assistance to those affected by land disputes. This initiative aims to address challenges faced by the underprivileged and landless populations, promoting inclusive growth and development.
4. Accessible Examination Facilities: The plan includes establishing examination centers in Karimganj and Hailakandi districts, including centers for third and fourth-grade job recruitment exams. By ensuring fair and accessible examination facilities, the candidate aims to enhance opportunities for employment and skill development, particularly among the youth.
5. Rural Development: Choudhury pledges to support the growth of fisheries, poultry, tea cultivation, and sericulture industries. By extending support from Delhi to Dibrugarh, the candidate aims to promote holistic development and upliftment of farming and artisan communities, fostering sustainable livelihoods and economic growth in the region.
