Tripura Police Arrests Six with Contraband Worth Over Rs 1 Crore
In the past 24 hours, Tripura Police has made significant strides in combating illegal activities, resulting in the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of contraband valued at over Rs 1 crore.
In the first operation, acting on confidential information, Tripura Police in Sonamura Sub-division under Sepahijala district conducted a raid in the Rangamatia bordering areas.
During the operation, over 7,000 bottles of banned cough syrups were seized from the residence of Tajul Islam.
The estimated value of the seized contraband is Rs 50 lakh. However, the police were unable to apprehend the second individual, Imran Hossain, as he evaded capture before their arrival.
In the second operation, the Khowai Police Station staff took swift action to dismantle a suspected drug trafficking racket.
The arrest of Kajal Tanti, found in possession of 50 grams of brown sugar, provided a crucial breakthrough.
Subsequent interrogation led to the identification and arrest of three accomplices: Prashanta Das, Litan Gope, and Krishan Debbarma.
In the third operation, Tripura Police in Ambassa under Dhalai District apprehended an individual and seized cannabis worth Rs 1 crore.
During a routine inspection, police deployed in nakachecking detained a truck.
A thorough search uncovered 14 drums cleverly concealed beneath other drums filled with latex. These concealed drums contained packages of ganja with an estimated value exceeding Rs 1 crore 20 lakh.
The truck driver was promptly detained by the police.
