BJP National President JP Nadda to Lead NDA Rally in Nagaland Ahead of Single-Seat Election

In a strategic move ahead of Nagaland’s single-seat election scheduled for April 19, BJP national president JP Nadda is set to visit the state on April 13 to headline a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) election rally. The event, slated to take place at Agri Expo, Chumukedima, underscores the BJP’s concerted efforts to bolster its electoral prospects in the region.

In preparation for Nadda’s visit, an emergency meeting was convened by the state BJP president, Benjamin Yepthomi, at his residence in Thahekhu village, Dimapur. The meeting, attended by party leaders, focused on coordinating necessary protocols and logistical arrangements to ensure the success of Nadda’s visit.

According to a press release, Nadda is scheduled to land at Dimapur Airport around 12:45 PM on April 13. Upon arrival, he will preside over a crucial NDA meeting in Nagaland, followed by a cluster meeting aimed at galvanizing support for the alliance’s electoral agenda.

The timing of Nadda’s visit underscores the significance of Nagaland in the BJP’s electoral strategy, particularly given the state’s pivotal role as a battleground for the NDA coalition. With the single-seat election fast approaching, Nadda’s presence signals the BJP’s commitment to consolidating its alliance and maximizing its electoral outreach in the region.

In the 2019 election, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate, Tokheho Yepthomi, emerged victorious. However, with Nadda’s visit and the BJP’s proactive campaign efforts, the electoral landscape in Nagaland is poised for heightened competition, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral showdown on April 19, with the counting slated for June 4.
