The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to launch its ‘Sankalp Patra’ election manifesto on April 14, with the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expected at the event.
Under the leadership of Defense Minister Singh, the manifesto committee has already convened twice to deliberate on the party’s agenda. With over 1.5 million suggestions received, including 400,000 through the NaMo app and 1.1 million via videos, the manifesto aims to address key issues such as development, prosperity, women empowerment, youth engagement, poverty alleviation, and agricultural reforms. The overarching theme, ‘Modi’s Guarantee: Developed India 2047’, underscores the BJP’s commitment to shaping a prosperous future for the nation.
The Election Manifesto Committee, comprising 27 members, includes Rajnath Singh as chairman, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as coordinator, and Minister Piyush Goyal as co-coordinator.
In contrast, the Indian National Congress has already unveiled its ‘Nyay Patra’ manifesto, pledging to provide Rs 100,000 annual financial aid to the poorest women in families.
The upcoming general elections, scheduled from April 19 to June 1, 2024, will determine the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha, with results expected on June 4. Approximately 970 million eligible voters will participate in this democratic process. Additionally, legislative assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will be held concurrently with the general election, alongside by-elections for 35 seats across 16 states.
