Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and Sitting MP Agatha K. Sangma Cast Votes, Encourage High Voter Turnout
Sitting Tura MP and NPP candidate Agatha K. Sangma reached Walbakgre polling station at 7.30 am to cast her vote. Speaking to the media, Agatha Sangma expressed appreciation for the large turnout, stating, “We are witnessing a large turnout. To see a large number of people coming out to vote in huge numbers as compared to Assembly elections, is itself a positive sign. I would encourage the people to exercise their franchise. We are grateful to the people for coming out in huge numbers.”
Apart from Agatha, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma also reached the Walbakgre polling station in Tura to cast his vote at 6.30 am and is in queue. The voting for the first phase of 18th Lok Sabha election has begun in 102 constituencies across India at 7 am. The voting will be held up to 4 pm today. Speaking to the media, Conrad Sangma said that he reached the polling station with the hope to cast his vote early but he was surprised that people had lined up early to vote. He appealed to people to come out and exercise their democratic rights.
