Tragic Road Accidents Claim Lives in Moran and Lakhimpur, Assam

Moran, Assam: A heart-wrenching road accident in Moran, Dibrugarh district, claimed the lives of a woman and her 3-year-old daughter early Tuesday morning. The tragic incident occurred when the duo, passengers in a rented four-wheeler vehicle, collided with a parked stationary truck along the highway. Despite efforts by bystanders and locals, the woman, identified as Bibi Akhtar (38), and her toddler daughter succumbed to their injuries, highlighting the grim toll of road accidents in the region.

The rented vehicle, bearing registration number ‘AS 01 QC 3813’, was reportedly en route from Guwahati city to Moran at the time of the collision. The loss of Bibi Akhtar and her daughter adds to a recent spate of road accidents in Assam, underscoring the pressing need for improved road safety measures.

In a separate incident, Rajiv Lekharu, an assistant professor at Bihpuria College in Lakhimpur district, met a tragic end while returning home from election duty for the first phase of polling in Assam. Lekharu’s vehicle collided with an oncoming bus near Doolahat, approximately 23 kilometers from Bihpuria, resulting in his immediate demise at the scene.

These devastating accidents serve as stark reminders of the importance of enhanced vigilance and stricter road safety enforcement to prevent further loss of lives on Assam’s roads.
