Government Vehicle Torched in Shillong’s Cleve Colony in Latest Petrol Bomb Attack

Shillong’s tranquility faces renewed turmoil as another petrol bomb attack rattles the city, targeting a government vehicle affiliated with the Directorate of Water Resources. The assault occurred during the night of May 2 at Cleve Colony, where miscreants set ablaze the vehicle with registration number ML01 A 0175.

The targeted vehicle, stationed within the premises of the Directorate of Water Resources, succumbed to flames after assailants allegedly lobbed a petrol bomb from outside, resulting in its complete destruction.

Authorities express deep concern over the escalating trend of such attacks, especially aimed at government vehicles in areas devoid of CCTV surveillance. Police have initiated investigations, actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this arson.

This latest assault compounds a series of similar incidents witnessed earlier in the week, including an attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Mawlai camp on the night of May 1, where unidentified assailants employed petrol bombs. As Shillong grapples with mounting violence, residents remain apprehensive, urging swift measures to restore peace and security to the city.
