CM Sangma Addresses Recent Arson Attacks Amid Arrests
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has commented on the recent surge of arson attacks, hinting at a possible link between these incidents and recent arrests carried out by law enforcement agencies. Sangma suggested that the arrests were based on substantial evidence related to various crimes, implying a potential retaliatory motive behind the attacks.
In a media address, Sangma reaffirmed the government’s resolute stance on taking necessary actions against individuals involved in criminal activities. While acknowledging the anticipation of reactions to preventive measures, he urged against premature conclusions regarding the recent arrests.
Despite the challenges in identifying the perpetrators of the sporadic arson incidents across Shillong, Sangma expressed confidence in the capabilities of law enforcement authorities to effectively address the situation.
Regarding the recent petrol bomb attacks in Shillong and Jowai, Sangma hinted at a possible connection to the arrests made in recent murder cases in Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh. Despite multiple reported cases of arson, including attacks on police stations and government offices, the perpetrators remain unidentified.
Sangma assured the public of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat such incidents, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He underscored the significance of concrete evidence in making arrests and expressed confidence in the diligence of the authorities to apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
