Massive Fire Devastates Goalpara, Inflicts Substantial Loss

In a tragic turn of events late last night on May 3, a massive fire erupted in Goalpara, resulting in the obliteration of seven shops. The inferno, believed to have originated in the vicinity of Chandariya in Barpahar within Goalpara town, wrought extensive damage estimated at over Rs 20 lakh.

The fire is suspected to have ignited from a rickshaw parked near a shop in Barpahar before rapidly spreading, consuming multiple establishments in its voracious path.

Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing sight of billowing black smoke swiftly followed by the eruption of flames. Despite immediate but futile attempts by bystanders to quell the fire, the assistance of the fire brigade was eventually enlisted, leading to the containment of the inferno. However, by the time the flames were subdued, seven shops had succumbed to the ferocity of the blaze.

Residents in the vicinity mourned the significant monetary loss, estimated to exceed Rs 20 lakh. This tragic incident underscores the urgent imperative for heightened vigilance and robust fire prevention measures within communities to forestall such calamitous repercussions in the future.
