ULFA-I Urges Public to Watch ‘Protisruti’, Highlights Impact of Drug Abuse in Assam
The banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) has issued a public appeal via email urging individuals to watch producer Ratul Barua’s film ‘Protisruti’, which sheds light on the detrimental effects of excessive drug abuse among youngsters and its repercussions on society.
In the email message, ULFA-I emphasizes the urgency of addressing the spread of drug abuse and illegal trafficking among the younger generation in Assam. They underscore the importance of safeguarding the future of the country by preventing the youth from falling prey to drug addiction, which they deem as a social disease.
Drawing on their past stance against drug use and trafficking during their active years in the early 1990s, ULFA-I highlights the need for collective action to combat the trafficking of dangerous substances. They lament the involvement of some law enforcement agencies in perpetuating the availability of such drugs on the streets, undermining efforts to eradicate this social menace.
ULFA-I calls attention to the upcoming release of ‘Protisruti’, an Assamese film crafted by Ratul Barua, slated for release on May 24, 2024. They urge every parent, concerned individual, and youth in Assam to watch the film, emphasizing its relevance in addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse. The outfit appeals for the screening of ‘Protisruti’ in every cinema hall across Assam for at least three to four weeks, urging a temporary halt to the screening of other films to prioritize awareness on this critical issue.
This appeal from ULFA-I underscores their continued vigilance and concern for societal welfare, urging collective action to combat the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking in Assam.
