Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Extends Support on Newly Constructed Ladakh Road

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju demonstrated his hands-on approach by assisting in clearing obstacles along the newly constructed Nimmu-Padum-Darchen Road in Ladakh’s remote Zanskar Valley. Rijiju, accompanied by his team, actively participated in pushing a stuck vehicle and directing operations to clear the rough patch of road.

Taking to Twitter on May 12, Rijiju expressed pride in witnessing the ongoing transformation in one of India’s most isolated regions. He welcomed the opportunity to become the first Union Minister to drive on the historic road, highlighting its potential to transform the entire Zanskar Valley and benefit the wider Ladakh region.

“I’m honored to be the first Union Minister ever to drive on this historic NPD Road (Nimmu-Padum-Darch Road). This road will revolutionize the entire Zanskar Valley and immensely benefit the whole of Ladakh,” Rijiju tweeted.

Rijiju credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on developing long-neglected areas for the construction of the road. The new connectivity is expected to open up the region, improving access to services and economic opportunities for local residents after years of isolation.
