Minister AT Mondal Urges Ministry Intervention to Address MGNREGS Implementation Challenges

AT Mondal, Minister in-charge of Community and Rural Development, has called for immediate intervention from the ministry to resolve various issues hindering the smooth implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

In a statement issued on Monday, May 13, Mondal disclosed that he had formally communicated these concerns to the ministry through a letter, expressing optimism that corrective measures would be undertaken following the conclusion of elections. Among the key issues highlighted by Mondal is the cumbersome payment system, aggravated by the lack of Aadhaar linkage among many job card holders, a mandatory requirement mandated by the Indian government. Mondal further disclosed that he has urged the Chief Minister to correspond with the concerned minister to expedite resolutions on this front.

In addition to payment-related challenges, Mondal underscored the complexities surrounding the release of material component funds, emphasizing that while their allocation is timely, the process is contingent upon funds from Delhi. Despite the logistical hurdles posed by the ongoing elections, Mondal assured that all pertinent issues have been duly flagged for attention.

Mondal’s proactive stance underscores the pressing need for streamlined procedures and enhanced coordination to ensure the effective execution of MGNREGS, a pivotal scheme aimed at fostering rural employment and development.
