Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Calls Out Congress Over Miniature Constitution Gift

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has criticized the Congress party for their gesture of gifting him a pocketbook version of the Constitution of India. Sarma expressed his disappointment, urging Congress leader Pawan Khera to send him an original copy of the Constitution adorned with the artwork by Nandalal Bose from Shantiniketan.

Sarma’s remarks came after receiving the pocketbook version, implying that the Congress party may have lost sight of the original document’s significance in favor of the miniature edition. He emphasized the importance of preserving the rich heritage and cultural legacy depicted in the original Constitution.

Taking to social media platform X, Sarma requested, “Thank you Mr. Khera. However, could you please send me an original copy of the Indian Constitution that includes the artwork created by Sri Nandalal Bose and his team from Shantiniketan, depicting our rich heritage and cultural legacy? I have heard that Congress has already forgotten the original copy of the Constitution and is more interested in the RED pocketbook version.”

Khera’s gesture and Sarma’s response have ignited a debate surrounding the reverence for the Constitution and its symbolic representations.
