Outcry in Imphal West Amidst Shock Over Gun Attack

Imphal West, Manipur – Outraged residents of Naoremthong in Imphal West district mobilized in a sit-in protest following a harrowing gun attack on laborers within their community on the night of May 18. The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, prompting calls for justice and heightened security measures.

Led by the Khullem Leikai Meira Club, Uripok Apunba Lup, and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup, the protest sought to condemn the brazen violence that transpired within the confines of their residential area. Samom Dhurba, the general secretary of Uripok Apunba Lup, vehemently denounced the attack, urging armed individuals to refrain from instigating fear and chaos in peaceful neighborhoods.

According to reports, unidentified armed assailants opened fire on laborers, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The tragic incident has left the community reeling with grief and apprehension, raising concerns about the safety and security of residents.

Simultaneously, another demonstration unfolded in protest against a separate gun attack targeting Kakchingtabam Hotel. Organized by the Kakching Lamkhai Welfare Board, the protest underscored the escalating anxiety and distress caused by recurring acts of violence.

A spokesperson representing the protesters demanded transparency and accountability from the perpetrators of these attacks. The community is adamant about seeking answers and reassurances regarding the motives behind such brazen assaults, emphasizing the pressing need for swift action and the administration of justice to restore peace and stability.
