Meghalaya High Court Bomb Threat Deemed Hoax; Swift Security Measures Avert Incident

Meghalaya High Court officials breathed a collective sigh of relief as a bomb threat received via email on June 18 was swiftly identified as a hoax, categorized as a spam message according to media reports. The security apparatus at the High Court immediately sprang into action, intensifying security measures and conducting comprehensive sweeps of the premises.

In response to the threat, Meghalaya police promptly deployed a bomb disposal squad to ensure the safety of everyone present and to preempt any potential risks. The cyber cell is actively pursuing leads to trace the origin of the spam email, underscoring the seriousness with which such threats are treated.

This incident echoes a similar hoax bomb threat received by the Meghalaya High Court earlier this year in January, coinciding with a wave of threats targeting courts nationwide on the same day.

In a separate but related development on June 18, an IndiGo flight bound for Mumbai from Chennai received a bomb threat message mid-flight. Following standard operating procedures, the aircraft landed safely at Mumbai airport around 10:30 pm, and all passengers disembarked without incident. IndiGo officials confirmed the threat, reassuring the public that stringent safety protocols were diligently followed throughout the operation.

These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in managing and responding to security threats effectively, ensuring public safety remains paramount amidst heightened vigilance and security measures.
