Assam Rifles and State Police Launch Major Peacekeeping Operation in Jiribam

To address recent unrest and reinforce security in Jiribam District, Assam Rifles, in partnership with State Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), conducted an extensive joint operation on June 19, 2024. Over 200 security personnel were mobilized to restore order and enhance residents’ confidence.

This operation was in response to disturbances following a local incident on June 6, 2024, which had been used to incite division. To manage the increased tensions, additional forces were strategically deployed throughout the district.

“Our unified effort demonstrates our dedication to community safety and preventing disruptive activities,” stated an Assam Rifles spokesperson. The operation spanned key areas from Jiri Circle to Leingangpoki, maintaining a strong presence to deter further unrest.

Since achieving peace in May 2023, Jiribam has been a beacon of hope for Manipur. The current operation not only aims to reassure the community but also acts as a warning against attempts to destabilize the region, highlighting the importance of unity and vigilance.

Officials involved in the operation emphasized their commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring a secure environment for all residents. The collaboration between Assam Rifles and allied forces underscores a steadfast dedication to maintaining peace and protecting Jiribam’s community.
