Fatal Stabbing Incident Rocks Sindhi College in Amruthahalli, Assam Student Arrested

Amruthahalli, Bangalore: A tragic incident unfolded at Sindhi College when a student from Assam, Bhargav Jyothi Barman, allegedly stabbed a security guard to death after a dispute over entry into the college premises. The incident occurred during an ongoing program at the college, where Bhargav, accompanied by friends and reportedly intoxicated, attempted to gain entry late into the event.

The security guard, identified as Jai Kishore Rai, intervened and denied them access, triggering a heated argument. Subsequently, Bhargav temporarily left the scene, purchased a knife from a nearby shop, and returned to fatally stab Rai multiple times in the chest, resulting in immediate fatality.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North East, overseeing the case, stated that the confrontation escalated due to the security measures in place, which Bhargav and his companions vehemently contested. “In response to being turned away, one of the students resorted to violence,” the DCP explained.

Law enforcement swiftly apprehended Bhargav and launched an investigation to uncover any underlying motives or prior altercations between the student and the deceased guard. Authorities are also conducting tests to ascertain Bhargav’s level of intoxication during the incident.

Initial reports reveal Bhargav Jyothi Barman as a final year BA student actively participating in the ongoing cultural festivities at Sindhi College. He is recognized as a high-achieving student within his class and resides in a nearby PG accommodation.
