Manipur Security Forces Seize Explosives in Extensive Operations, Ensure Safe Highway Transit
Security forces in Manipur conducted comprehensive search operations across vulnerable areas in both hill and valley districts, resulting in significant seizures of explosive devices and ensuring secure highway passages.
In Churachandpur District, security personnel recovered two improvised mortars, locally referred to as “Pumpis.” Concurrent operations in Thoubal District led to the discovery of one locally manufactured Pumpi, along with six HE-36 hand grenades, two detonators, and two tear smoke cells.
These operations were pivotal in safeguarding the movement of essential goods along critical highways. A total of 197 vehicles traversed NH-37, with an additional 270 vehicles navigating NH-2, all under stringent security protocols. Security convoys were deployed in sensitive areas to facilitate safe transit for these vehicles.
In tandem with these recoveries and transportation efforts, security forces established 123 Nakas (checkpoints) across various districts, covering both hill and valley regions. During these operations, law enforcement detained 38 individuals for various infractions across different districts.
The proactive measures by security forces underscore their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur amidst ongoing challenges, ensuring the safety of residents and facilitating essential logistical movements.
