BSF Foils Attempted Human Trafficking, Detains Five Bangladeshi Nationals in Agartala
A successful anti-human trafficking operation led by the Border Security Force (BSF) resulted in the apprehension of five Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday, July 10.
The BSF’s Joint Operation Party, in collaboration with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and the Special Branch Police Station Amtali, intercepted the individuals as they were preparing to board the Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Express.
Those detained include Md Safiqul Islam (32), Samim Reja (9), Selina Bibi (20), Ibrahim Sardar (24), and Simul Hussain (28), encompassing a minor and a woman. They are currently undergoing initial questioning by BSF and police officials.
This incident echoes a similar operation on June 30, 2024, where 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women with children, were intercepted at the same station while attempting unauthorized entry into India, allegedly bound for Bengaluru and Kashmir.
The BSF remains steadfast in its commitment to curbing human trafficking and illegal immigration, collaborating closely with local authorities to safeguard the border region’s integrity and security.
