CM N. Biren Singh Unveils Skill and Livelihood Programme to Enhance Economic Opportunities
Imphal, July 19, 2024 — In a significant step to improve economic opportunities for the people of Manipur, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched the “Skill and Livelihood Programme” at the City Convention Centre. Organized by the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, this initiative aims to address economic challenges by providing training and financial support for income-generating activities.
During the event, CM Biren spoke to the media about ongoing border fencing construction, clarifying that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) oversees the project through the Border Roads Organization (BRO), with the state government offering necessary support. “Any issues related to the border fencing project will be handled by the MHA. Our role is limited to monitoring and assisting through the concerned district administration,” Biren stated. He mentioned receiving unconfirmed reports about a halt in construction but assured that the matter would be resolved by the union ministry.
On the law-and-order situation in Jiribam, CM Biren acknowledged that while minor incidents persist, the overall condition is improving, and peace efforts between communities are making progress. He expressed optimism that normalcy would soon be restored.
The Skill and Livelihood Programme is anticipated to significantly enhance economic prospects for the people of Manipur by equipping them with essential skills and financial resources for sustainable income generation.
