Woman and Her Lover Arrested for Husband’s Murder in Tripura
Khowai, July 21, 2024 — In a shocking turn of events, police have arrested Purnima Debnath and her paramour, Amit Ghosh, in connection with the murder of her husband, 47-year-old Kinkar Debnath, in Khowai district, Tripura.
Kinkar’s body was found on July 19 in the Karailong area, approximately 1.5 kilometers from his home. Teliamura police, led by Officer-in-Charge Rajib Debnath, swiftly launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Purnima and Ghosh.
During questioning, Purnima confessed to the crime, revealing that the murder took place on the night of July 18. She allegedly sedated her husband before she and Ghosh strangled him to death.
The illicit relationship between Purnima and Ghosh, a real estate developer hired by Kinkar to renovate their home, is believed to have sparked the plot to eliminate Kinkar. Both suspects have been charged with murder and are in police custody as the investigation continues to uncover more evidence.
