Assam CM Congratulates Ramen Deka on New Role as Governor-Designate of Chhattisgarh

Guwahati, July 28, 2024 — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended his congratulations to Ramen Deka on his appointment as the Governor-designate of Chhattisgarh. Deka, currently serving as the Vice Chairman of Assam’s State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), is poised to leverage his extensive public service experience in this new role.

“Many congratulations to the Vice Chairman of Assam’s State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) and my colleague in @BJP4Assam, Shri @ramendeka16 on being appointed as the Hon’ble Governor-designate of Chhattisgarh,” Sarma shared on social media.

Ramen Deka, born on March 1, 1954, has had a distinguished career in Indian politics. A long-standing member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he served as a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha, representing the Mangaldoi constituency. His political career includes roles such as National Secretary of the BJP and President of the BJP Assam Pradesh. Additionally, Deka has served as Panel Chairman in the Lok Sabha and has been elected twice as a Member of Parliament for Mangaldoi.

In the same announcement, Chief Minister Sarma also extended his best wishes to Laxman Acharya, who has been appointed as the new Governor of Sikkim. Sarma commended Acharya’s dedication to empowering the poor and his extensive organizational and legislative experience.

This reshuffle marks a significant transition for both Deka and Acharya, underscoring their substantial contributions to public service and their new responsibilities in steering the governance of Chhattisgarh and Sikkim, respectively.
