Thupten Lhamu Crowned Miss Universe Arunachal 2024, Heads to National Competition

Thupten Lhamu has been named Miss Universe Arunachal 2024, earning her spot in the upcoming Miss Universe India pageant.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Lhamu on social media, praising her achievement and expressing support for her future success. “Youth of Arunachal Pradesh are versatile & dynamic!” Khandu tweeted. “We all join in praying for your success in the grand event. Our best wishes.”

This year, a new selection process for Miss Universe India has been introduced. State winners, including Lhamu, will now compete for the national title, with the winner advancing to represent India on the global stage.

The Miss Universe pageant, which began in 1952, is renowned for showcasing contestants from nearly 100 countries. It celebrates not only physical beauty but also intelligence, poise, and social awareness.

India has won the Miss Universe title three times: Sushmita Sen in 1994, Lara Dutta in 2000, and Harnaaz Sandhu in 2021.
