Meghalaya Government Considers Salary Increase for SSA Non-Academic Staff
Shillong, Meghalaya – The Meghalaya government is actively considering the demands for salary enhancement from the non-academic staff of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). This development follows the second meeting of the rationalization committee, which is tasked with examining salary rationalization proposals for SSA staff at the state, district, and block levels.
Jennifer J Synrem, president of the All Meghalaya SSA Non-Teaching Staff Association (AMSSANTSA), announced that the government has committed to providing a written assurance on their considerations. Synrem indicated that the meeting was productive, with the committee agreeing to 70% of their demands and expressing optimism that the remaining 30% would soon be addressed.
An additional meeting is anticipated on August 6 to further discuss the remaining demands. The initial meeting of the 20-member rationalization committee, chaired by the Commissioner & Secretary of Education, was held on August 2. During this meeting, the committee reviewed various aspects of the terms of reference and formulated five-point recommendations.
The committee has decided to submit recommendations in stages, taking into account the complexity of the issues, the years of service provided by the staff, and an annual increment of 5% on the base pay plus increment. This structured approach aims to address the concerns of the SSA non-academic staff comprehensively and equitably.
