Tripura to Host Northeast Council (NEC) Meeting, Breaking Tradition

Agartala, August 19, 2024 — Tripura will host the upcoming Northeast Council (NEC) meeting on August 31 and September 1, marking a shift from the traditional venues of Assam or Meghalaya. Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the event, which will bring together six chief ministers, six governors from Northeastern states, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The meeting will address pressing issues such as border disputes and developmental challenges in the region. Saha emphasized the importance of this meeting as an opportunity to highlight Tripura’s initiatives and foster regional cooperation. Preparations are underway, with Saha closely monitoring the arrangements to ensure a successful and productive gathering.
