Tripura CM Manik Saha Leads Relief Efforts as Floods Devastate Gomati District

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has directed urgent air-drops of essential food supplies to the worst-hit areas in Gomati district amidst severe flooding. The state has deployed MI-17 helicopters to deliver aid to Amarpur and Karbook, where many residents are in critical need.

The state administration is actively managing the emergency response, including rescue operations and medical aid. “Our government is fully committed to the safety and well-being of our citizens. We are tirelessly working to manage the situation and provide the necessary support,” said Chief Minister Saha.

Saha visited a relief shelter at B.R. Ambedkar School in Bordowali earlier today to oversee ongoing efforts and assure displaced residents of continued government support.

The floods have claimed 19 lives, including seven in the past 24 hours, and displaced over 65,000 individuals, with two still unaccounted for. The crisis, caused by relentless heavy rains, has led to record-breaking downpours in South Tripura’s Bogafa (493.6 mm), Sepahijala’s Sonamura (293.4 mm), West Tripura’s Agartala (233 mm), and Gomati’s Udaipur (155 mm).

Rivers in six districts—Dhalai, Khowai, South Tripura, West Tripura, North Tripura, and Unakoti—have surpassed danger levels, worsening the situation. Landslides have affected 2,032 locations, with ongoing efforts to clear and restore the impacted areas.

The State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) in the New Capital Complex is coordinating relief and rescue operations, focusing on both immediate needs and long-term recovery as Tripura navigates the aftermath of this devastating flood.
