Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Appeals to Jharkhand Leaders to Join BJP, Criticizes Congress on Caste Census
Ranchi, August 26, 2024: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also oversees the BJP’s efforts in Jharkhand, has made a public appeal to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and the current Chief Minister Hemant Soren to consider joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a significant political maneuver, Sarma emphasized the importance of addressing illegal infiltration in Jharkhand and expressed the BJP’s readiness to collaborate with Hemant Soren to tackle this pressing issue.
Sarma specifically invited Champai Soren, acknowledging his influence and suggesting that his affiliation with the BJP could bolster the party’s strength in the region. Additionally, he urged Hemant Soren to align with the BJP, highlighting the party’s dedication to safeguarding Jharkhand from the threat of illegal intruders. “Our main objective is to protect Jharkhand and fulfill our election commitments. The issue of infiltration is a serious concern, and the BJP is committed to eradicating this menace,” Sarma stated.
Further intensifying his political rhetoric, Sarma criticized the Congress party for allegedly withholding caste census data from Karnataka, contrasting this with the BJP’s actions in Bihar. “The BJP has already conducted a caste census in Bihar, but the Congress, despite completing a similar exercise in Karnataka, has failed to release the data. There should be no double standards on such a critical issue,” Sarma remarked, underscoring his critique of the opposition’s approach to the caste census.
