Meghalaya Governor Honors Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School for Subroto Cup Triumph
Shillong: Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar hosted a special ceremony at Raj Bhavan to honor the Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School’s U-15 boys’ football team for their victory in the Subroto International Tournament held in Bengaluru. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma joined the Governor in celebrating the team’s remarkable achievement.
Governor Vijayashankar lauded the young athletes, emphasizing the significance of their triumph at such a young age. “Winning this prestigious tournament is a notable accomplishment. The formative years from ages 6 to 16 are crucial for learning, and achieving excellence at this stage is truly inspiring,” Vijayashankar remarked.
He also commended the state government’s role in supporting the team, highlighting the importance of such encouragement in developing young talent.
Chief Minister Sangma praised the Governor’s recognition as a heartfelt and significant moment. He reiterated the government’s ongoing investments in sports infrastructure and its commitment to nurturing athletic talent across the state.
