Congress Confident of Victory in Assam By-Elections as Draft Electoral Rolls Published

Guwahati, September 5, 2024 — Congress MLA Abdur Rashid Mandal has expressed strong confidence in securing victories across all five assembly constituencies in Assam for the upcoming by-elections. Mandal, addressing media on Tuesday, stated that the party is well-prepared and unified, with substantial support from the electorate boosting their optimism.

In the lead-up to the by-elections, the state election commission has released the draft electoral rolls for the five constituencies: Dholai (SC), Sidli (ST), Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri. The draft rolls provide detailed voter information and polling station specifics.

  • Bongaigaon: The constituency will have 246 polling stations catering to 1,82,354 voters, including 89,510 males, 92,842 females, and two third-gender voters.
  • Samaguri: With 197 polling stations, the constituency has 1,80,448 registered voters—91,304 males, 89,133 females, and 11 third-gender voters.
  • Dholai: The largest of the five constituencies, Dholai will have 208 polling stations serving 1,96,772 voters, including 99,431 males, 97,340 females, and one third-gender voter.
  • Behali: This constituency lists 1,33,300 voters across 154 polling stations, with 65,934 males, 66,365 females, and one third-gender voter.
  • Sidli: The constituency has 2,12,555 registered voters, comprising 1,05,133 males, 1,06,920 females, and two third-gender voters.

The election commission’s publication of the draft rolls marks a critical step in the electoral process, ensuring transparency and allowing for any necessary corrections before the final rolls are prepared.
