Major Drug Haul in Mizoram: Over 2 kg of Heroin and 50,500 Methamphetamine Tablets Seized

Champhai, September 5, 2024 — In a significant drug bust, Mizoram police have seized over 2 kg of heroin and 50,500 methamphetamine tablets, valued at approximately ₹1.5 crore, in Champhai district. The seizure was made by a police team from the Zokhawthar police station during a routine check on the outskirts of New Hruaikawn village.

The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, David Rosangliana (30) and Lawmsangzuala (27), both residents of Bulfekzawl village. The police intercepted their vehicle and, after a thorough search, confiscated 2.5 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth ₹76.7 lakh, and 5.7 kg (50,500 tablets) of methamphetamine, valued at ₹74.6 lakh.

Methamphetamine is a potent and highly addictive stimulant impacting the central nervous system, making its seizure particularly critical.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been filed, with further investigations underway to uncover the network behind this substantial drug trafficking operation and its connections.
