Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Extends Invitation to Dalai Lama for State Visit

McLeodganj, September 6, 2024 — Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited the Dalai Lama in McLeodganj today to partake in special prayers organized by the people of Tawang for the Tibetan spiritual leader’s long life. The five-day prayer ceremony, which began on September 3, is set to conclude tomorrow, September 7, with the Dalai Lama joining the final prayers.

During his visit, CM Khandu expressed relief over the Dalai Lama’s improved health, stating, “It is heartening to see His Holiness recovering well. We are grateful for his continued presence and have extended a formal invitation for him to visit Arunachal Pradesh. He graciously accepted, and we look forward to welcoming him to our state soon.”

The Dalai Lama, who recently returned from medical treatment in the United States for knee issues, is reported to be recovering well and will resume his regular engagements shortly. The invitation to Arunachal Pradesh reflects the deep respect and affection the state holds for the Dalai Lama and his spiritual guidance.
