Eviction Drive in Bhalukpung Clears Illegal Constructions on Assam-Arunachal Border

Bhalukpung, September 7, 2024 — The Sonitpur district administration conducted a major eviction drive at Bhalukpung, located along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, to remove unauthorized constructions along the riverbank near the Bhalukpung market. The operation, led by officials from the Chariduar Revenue Circle, used JCB machines to demolish several two-storied buildings that had been illegally erected without proper permits.

Despite repeated warnings from local authorities, the illegal structures remained in place, raising concerns among residents. The rise in river water levels further heightened fears, as these unauthorized buildings posed a threat to both the community and surrounding properties.

The district administration emphasized that the drive was necessary to safeguard the area from potential hazards. Officials reassured the public that future encroachments along the riverbank would be strictly monitored, with a commitment to enforcing construction regulations and protecting the safety of local residents.
