Major Eviction Drive in Assam’s Rangjuli Forest Targets Illegal Rubber Plantation

Rangjuli, Assam — In a decisive move to reclaim encroached forest land, the forest department today conducted a major eviction drive in the Rangjuli forest, dismantling an illegal rubber plantation spread across nine bighas of land. The operation was led by the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) of Goalpara, along with the Regional Forest Officer (RFO) of Rangjuli, and executed by the Khashibari Protection Reserve Force (PRF).

The targeted plantation had been unlawfully established in a protected area, violating conservation laws. Officials emphasized that the action is part of a larger effort to address illegal activities within the state’s forests and restore their ecological balance.

Rangjuli’s RFO reiterated that the department would continue to conduct similar drives to ensure the protection of forest resources and deter future encroachments. The eviction marks a critical step in the state’s ongoing efforts to safeguard its natural reserves.
