Assam ADRE Exam Paper Leak Case Cracked: Photographer Arrested

In a significant breakthrough, the Dhemaji Police have cracked the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) paper leak case, arresting photographer Mangal Singh Basumutary for his role in the incident. According to Assam Director General of Police GP Singh, Basumutary took pictures of the exam paper after the test ended at 1:30 PM and shared them with others.

The investigation traced the leaked paper to Upendra National Academy in Simen Chapori, Dhemaji district. Basumutary, hired by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) for the exam, confessed to photographing the paper. His mobile phone has been seized for further investigation.

Dhemaji Superintendent of Police Hitesh Ch. Roy confirmed that the investigation was underway but declined to provide further details until it is completed. The swift action by the police has been commendable, and the focus now shifts to ensuring that those involved face justice.

The incident has sparked widespread criticism, with Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah slamming the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government for “major failure” and rampant corruption. Borah accused the administration of systemic issues under Sarma’s leadership, highlighting concerns about the security and integrity of competitive examinations in Assam.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has yet to comment on the matter, fueling further speculation and criticism. As the investigation unfolds, the government’s response will be closely watched. The ADRE exam paper leak case has raised important questions about accountability and transparency in the examination process.

The arrest of Mangal Singh Basumutary marks a significant step towards resolving the case. However, the broader implications of the leak and the government’s handling of the situation remain to be addressed.
