BTR Youth Unite for Environmental Conservation in Honor of Gandhi Jayanti

Kokrajhar, BTR – In a powerful demonstration of environmental commitment, the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government hosted a ‘Pledge for Nature’ event at Bodofa Nagar, Kokrajhar, on October 2, coinciding with the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti and the 155th International Day of Non-Violence.

The event saw the participation of around 2,000 young people, who pledged their support for nature conservation, symbolizing the region’s dedication to sustainable practices and environmental protection. The day also marked the official launch of the Dr. Bashiram Baro Doctorate Fellowship scheme, aimed at promoting higher education and research in the region.

Notable figures such as BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, and Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.L. Ahuja were present, along with students, community members, and representatives from various local organizations.

CEM Pramod Boro highlighted the importance of taking proactive steps to address the global climate crisis and emphasized the Green Bodoland Mission’s role in combating environmental challenges. He reiterated the BTR government’s commitment to building a greener, plastic-free Bodoland through sustainable initiatives aimed at preserving the region’s natural resources and securing a cleaner future for all.
