Tripura CM Manik Saha Advocates for Cleanliness and Plastic Reduction in State

Agartala, Tripura – Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has urged the citizens of Tripura to make cleanliness a priority and reduce the use of single-use plastics, highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship. His appeal came during the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan event held outside Ujjayanta Palace, coinciding with the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In his address, Dr. Saha stressed that cleanliness should extend beyond the physical environment to encompass the hearts and minds of individuals. “Participating in the Swachhata Abhiyan means maintaining cleanliness in both our surroundings and our personal lives. We are striving to make Tripura a ‘Plastic Mukta’ (plastic-free) state,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a cleaner India, acknowledging that while achieving this goal may not happen overnight, steady progress is possible through collective efforts. “PM Modi’s promises will be fulfilled step by step. We cannot do everything in a day, but with cooperation, we can make significant strides,” he remarked.

Dr. Saha also lauded the Agartala Municipal Corporation for its national accolades in cleanliness initiatives, affirming the government’s commitment to addressing public concerns while maintaining a clean state and capital.

Alongside his environmental advocacy, Dr. Saha mentioned the ongoing BJP membership drive in Tripura, aiming to enroll 12 lakh members. “In 2019, we had about 6.5 lakh members, and we are confident of achieving our target this time,” he stated, reflecting the party’s expanding influence in the region.
