Drunk Driving Incident in Guwahati Leaves Driver Critically Injured

In a troubling incident linked to alleged drunk driving, a speeding vehicle crashed into a roadside divider in Guwahati, Assam, leaving the driver in critical condition. The accident occurred near the Six Mile flyover.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver of the i20 car (Registration: AS 01 FG 6990) appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The identity of the driver remains unknown, but they were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

This incident follows another recent accident involving a Mahindra XUV (Registration: AS01EH4665), which collided with a scooty (AS01 DF 8230) and a Tata Yodha vehicle (AS01 MC 9807) amidst preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities.

Authorities discovered several bottles of alcohol inside the XUV, raising alarms about reckless driving behaviors. The crash resulted in severe injuries to the scooty rider and the occupants of the XUV. All injured parties were transported to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment, while workers setting up lights for the festival narrowly avoided injury.

Despite ongoing police efforts to combat drunk driving through stringent enforcement, these incidents underscore the ongoing challenge of reckless driving in the area.
