Assam Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking, Seize 14 Kg of Ganja in Hajo Operation

In a significant anti-drug operation, the Assam Police intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking, successfully confiscating 14 kg of ganja in Garomari, Hajo. The ganja, valued at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh, was recovered from the residence of a suspected drug dealer, Hirak Jyoti Bharali.

The raid, led by Inspector Nabajit Nath, uncovered a substantial cache of the illegal substance, along with a mobile phone and a scooter (bearing registration AS25 V 1913). Bharali is currently in police custody as investigations continue into his drug network and operations.

This bust is part of a broader effort by the Assam Police to curtail drug trafficking in the region. In a similar operation on September 26, Palashbari police apprehended three individuals involved in a ganja smuggling racket. Acting on a tip-off, the police seized 28 kilograms of ganja from Muduki, a location near the Assam-Meghalaya border. The arrested suspects, identified as Manjit Rabha, Bimal Rabha, and Ajay Rabha, were caught while allegedly transporting the contraband.

These back-to-back operations underscore the Assam Police’s commitment to curbing illegal drug activities in the state.
