Devastating Fires Across Assam Cause Extensive Damage to Businesses and Homes

A series of devastating fires in Assam have left multiple businesses and residences severely damaged, with losses amounting to several lakhs. The incidents, reported in Hailakandi, Barpeta, and Numaligarh, have raised concerns about fire safety and potential foul play.

In Hailakandi, a significant fire erupted at the Cloth Store, a well-known clothing shop, leading to the destruction of merchandise valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh. Despite the prompt response from firefighters, the blaze consumed the store, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake and resulting in substantial losses for the owner.

Simultaneously, in Bhatnapaity village in Barpeta, a tragic fire devastated the home of Abu Shama Ahmed, causing damage estimated at around Rs 7 lakh, which included Rs 2 lakh in cash. Family members are suspicious of foul play, suggesting the possibility of arson. With the help of local residents, they managed to extinguish the fire, but the emotional and financial toll has been considerable.

Late at night, another fire broke out in the commercial hub of Numaligarh Tiniali, affecting several businesses and leading to extensive property damage worth several lakhs. Preliminary investigations indicate that the blaze might have been caused by a short circuit. Fire brigades responded quickly to the scene, containing the flames before further destruction could occur.

Authorities are currently investigating the causes of these fires, particularly the incidents in Barpeta, as communities rally to support those affected by the tragic losses.
