Guwahati Woman Missing for Four Days: Police Launch Search Efforts

A woman from Guwahati, identified as Juri Das, has been missing for the past four days after she left her home in Silpukhuri on October 24, 2024. The 34-year-old was last seen heading to the Dol Govinda Temple on the outskirts of the city.

Juri, the wife of Dr. Vijay Das, a medical professional at Konkolota Civil Hospital in Tezpur, reportedly departed from her residence around 12:44 PM. CCTV footage captured her wearing a maroon dress as she traveled in a blue cab, but she has not returned home since.

Concern for her safety grew when Juri did not come back as expected, prompting her family to contact the Dispur Police Station to report her disappearance. Following their report, a formal case was registered, and an investigation was launched.

During the inquiry, the police interrogated the cab driver, who confirmed that he had dropped Juri off at the Dol Govinda Temple. This information was shared with the North Guwahati police, who reviewed CCTV footage from the temple, confirming Juri’s arrival there.

In addition to the local police’s involvement, the family of Juri Das reached out to the Kamrup rural district police, providing details about her disappearance. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ranjan Bhuyan responded swiftly, allocating resources for a comprehensive search effort.

Ratul Kumar Das, the officer in charge of North Guwahati police station, reported to Pratidin Time that investigators have recovered Juri’s bag and her mobile phone near the temple, which may provide crucial leads in the case.

The search efforts have also involved the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which has been deployed to conduct operations along the Brahmaputra River. Despite ongoing efforts, authorities have not yet located Juri.

The police are urging anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to come forward and assist in the search, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in finding Juri Das.
