Monduro 4.0: World’s Highest Enduro Mountain Bike Race Kicks Off in Tawang
Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh – The majestic landscapes of Tawang have set the stage for Monduro 4.0, the world’s highest enduro mountain biking race, organized by the Tawang Cycling Association with support from the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. This year, the event has gained significant attention as part of the Asia Enduro Series (AES), drawing elite cyclists from eight countries and across India.
Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering officially inaugurated the race at Tawang Walkthrough Market alongside Tawang Brigade Commander Brigadier VS Rajput. The race course, starting at an altitude of 14,400 feet and descending to 8,000 feet, is recognized as one of the world’s most challenging high-altitude biking routes.
Top global riders, including France’s 2024 UCI World Champion Alex Rudeau and Nepal’s downhill champion Neerav Shrestha, are among the participants. MLA Tsering expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the Tawang Cycling Association, highlighting their role in promoting Tawang’s adventure tourism on an international scale.
The race not only offers intense competition but also cultural significance, as part of the route follows old trade paths connecting Tawang with Tibet. Brigadier VS Rajput and association members encouraged competitors, noting the event’s role in fostering resilience and sportsmanship.
Practice sessions are scheduled for November 10-11, with the final race on November 13-14, promising to spotlight Tawang’s breathtaking beauty and cultural heritage, drawing international attention to this unique region of Arunachal Pradesh.
