Guwahati Police Bust ATM Card Swapping Gang in Major Crackdown on Financial Fraud

In a decisive operation, the Gorchuk Police Station, part of the West Guwahati Police District, apprehended three members of a gang involved in ATM card swapping. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Amirul Ali (26), Injamumul Khan (23), and a minor, all residents of Barpeta.

The police recovered crucial evidence from the suspects, including 20 ATM cards with various account details, 8 SIM cards, and an ATM swipe machine. According to officials, the gang specifically targeted elderly individuals, swapping their cards at ATMs and stealing money from their accounts.

This successful operation marks a major step in combating financial fraud in the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine if additional individuals are connected to the gang’s operations. The crackdown highlights the police’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable community members and curbing financial crimes.
