IPS Partha Sarathi Mahanta Appointed Honourary Fellow at IIT’s Center for Indian Knowledge Systems
The Indian Institute of Technology’s (IIT) Center for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS) has announced the appointment of IPS Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Inspector General of Police, Assam, as an Honourary Fellow. Mahanta will play a pivotal role in advancing the “Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Mission for Popularisation of Science and Assamese Culture,” a program designed to inspire students in Assam to excel in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) while fostering a deep appreciation for their Assamese heritage.
Named after the revered Assamese polymath Pandit Hemchandra Goswami, the mission integrates workshops and seminars on STEM topics with cultural and language programs to celebrate Assamese traditions. It also seeks to bridge the gap between scientific learning and cultural appreciation through collaborations with educational institutions.
Founded by Dr. Naba Goswami, a U.S.-based doctor and grandson of Pandit Hemchandra Goswami, the initiative is supported by the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Foundation, with Prof. Uday S. Dixit, Head of CIKS, serving as its Principal Investigator.
IPS Mahanta, known for his exemplary service and societal contributions, is expected to make a significant impact through his leadership. His involvement aligns with the mission’s goal of nurturing a generation of students who are both scientifically skilled and deeply rooted in their cultural identity.
