Youth Fatally Stabbed at Kamrup Festival; Violence Erupts in Aftermath

Tragedy struck the Brahmaputra Valley Academy’s youth festival in Goraimari, Kamrup, as 18-year-old Lohit Hussain was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants. Hussain, son of Abul Hussain from Bhauria Bhitha, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Goraimari Community Health Centre. He was later referred to Gauhati Medical College Hospital but succumbed to his injuries at a nearby facility.

The shocking murder sparked widespread chaos, with thousands of attendees at the festival venue reacting in outrage. In a violent escalation, locals clashed with police and ransacked homes belonging to the accused. The unrest peaked when an enraged crowd set fire to houses in Champupara and vandalized a shop in the area.

Police have detained one suspect, Rakibul Haque, in connection with the crime, but the motive remains under investigation.

Tensions remain high in Champupara as authorities work to maintain order and continue their probe into the incident.
