Assam Police Concludes Week-Long Child Rights Week Campaign with “Go Blue” Initiative

Assam Police concluded its week-long Child Rights Week campaign on Wednesday, November 20, coinciding with World Children’s Day and the global “Go Blue” initiative. Launched on November 14, National Children’s Day, the campaign focused on raising awareness of child rights and highlighting the critical role of law enforcement in their protection.

“Go Blue” Initiative
In support of the global child rights movement, iconic landmarks across Assam, including the Assam Police Headquarters, SP Offices, and several police stations, were illuminated in blue. This symbolic gesture demonstrated Assam Police’s solidarity with the cause of child rights, aiming to promote awareness and underscore their commitment to protecting vulnerable children.

DGP’s Support for Child Rights
Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh personally lit up the Assam Police Headquarters in blue, emphasizing the police force’s dedication to safeguarding children, especially those affected by crime or conflict. “By Going Blue, Assam Police reaffirms its commitment to protecting children’s rights,” Singh said.

Sishu Mitra Programme
The campaign also highlighted Assam Police’s Sishu Mitra Programme, a child-friendly policing initiative in collaboration with UNICEF and UTSAH Child Rights Organisation. As one of India’s largest child rights programs, it aims to integrate child-sensitive practices into policing and ensure better responses to child rights violations.

Message of Commitment
Special DGP Harmeet Singh spoke about Assam Police’s continuous dedication to child protection, stating, “Assam Police has always been a strong believer in child rights. As we end our week-long celebrations, we commit to protecting the rights of every child who interacts with our police system.”

The conclusion of the campaign with the “Go Blue” initiative reinforced Assam Police’s ongoing efforts to create a safer, more empathetic environment for children across the state.
