Dispur Police Bust Inter-State Car Theft Racket, Arrest Key Members

Dispur police in Guwahati have uncovered a major inter-state car theft racket involving stolen vehicles from Assam and their sale in Manipur, leading to the arrest of several individuals.

The operation was led by Rustam Ali, Inamul Ali, and Ali Akbar, who were stealing high-end vehicles, including Boleros, primarily from the Christian Basti area in Dispur. The stolen cars were then sold at a fraction of their market value to three buyers from Manipur—Ratan Singh, Rishikesh Singh, and Lanjung Po Golam.

Police investigations revealed that the vehicles were swiftly transported to Manipur, where they entered a growing black market for stolen cars. The arrests were made following a coordinated effort by the police, exposing the extensive cross-border theft and sale network.

The discovery has raised concerns about a broader inter-state car theft operation, with law enforcement agencies intensifying their investigation into the racket.
